HIKE AT TOMALES BAY STATE PARK (Near Pt Reyes), MARIN CO.

Leaders: Richard, John & Nancy

Join us for a hike at Tomales Bay State Park (1208 Pierce Point Road, Inverness). We will hike from Hearts Desire Beach to Shell Beach and back. There are several gradual uphill climbs but nothing too strenuous.

Miles: 8 Miles (Moderate Hike)

Should be back to Hearts Desire Beach parking lot by 4:00.

Meet at: Noah's Bagels in Petaluma at 9:00AM, ready to leave at 9:10AM.

Take Hwy 101 to Washington Street exit, head east one block to McDowell, turn right on McDowell and left into Safeway shopping center, Noah’s Bagels is next to Safeway.

Or

Meet at: Hearts Desire Beach, Tomales Bay State Park at 10:15AM ready to hike. (West side of Tomales Bay)

PARKING: $8.00 (Pay as you drive towards Hearts Desire Beach—not in parking lot)

From Petaluma: Take D Street all the way to Olema, (not Pt. Reyes Station), right on Sir Francis Drake to Olema, right on HWY 1 (1/10th mile), left on Bear Valley Road, left on Sir Francis Drake, drive past Inverness and veer to the right on Pierce Point Road, turn right at Tomales Bay State Park and left at sign to Hearts Desire Beach.

From Marin County: Take Sir Francis Drake Hwy north, (Not Hwy 1), go past the Bear Valley Visitors Center (see directions above), travel approximately 4 miles, past Inverness, veer to the right on Pierce Point Road, turn right at Tomales Bay State Park and left at sign to Hearts Desire Beach.

NOTE: This Hike does not leave from Bear Valley Visitors Center, travel approximately 4 miles north of Visitors Center to Tomales Bay State Park (West Side of Tomales Bay).

BRING: Lots of water (Recommended minimum 1500ml/50 fl oz), lunch, snacks, sun screen, wear layered clothes.

Swimming: If you would like to swim or wade in Tomales Bay bring swim suits.

WEATHER: May be hot or cool and foggy.
